What We Collect and Compost
Village Compost accepts solid non-hazardous domestic, residential, commercial, institutional or industrial organic waste from within the Province of Ontario which includes the following list:
- Leaves, Yard Waste, Brush 40cm & Shorter/5cm & Thinner
- Flowers (Fresh or Dried)
- Fruits & Vegetables
- Grains, Pasta, Bread & Cereal
- Dairy Products ie. Cheese/Yogurt
- Coffee Grounds, Filters & Tea Bags
- Candies, Cookies & Cake
- Baking Ingredients, Herbs & Spices
- Pet Food
- Eggs, Egg Shells
- Paper Drink Trays & Paper Plates
- Meat, Shellfish, Fish Products
- Tissues, Napkins, Soiled Paper Towels (Used Without Cleaning Products)
- Soiled Paper Food Packaging: Fast Food
- Paper Packaging, Ice Cream Boxes, Muffin Paper, Flour or Sugar Bags
- Pizza Boxes, Greasy w. Food Residue
- Household Plants/Soil

What We Cannot Collect or Compost
Items we would consider contaminant that will not breakdown in the compost process:
- Rigid and Film Plastics
- Glass and Ceramics
- Metal Items
- Rubber
- Textiles
- Articles of Clothing
- Special Household Waste:
- Batteries
- Small Appliances
- Electronic Devices
